Membership Does Have Its Privileges: Manitoba Pork Marketing is a producer owned marketing cooperative that is dedicated to working with hog producers in the Province of Manitoba to ensure fair and equitable pricing for their hogs. In order to become a member, a producer must meet the following criteria: Be a registered producer in the Province of Manitoba Membership requires the shipment of a minimum of one animal (market hog, boar, sow) annually to Manitoba Pork Marketing. Complete an Application for Membership. This form is available by contacting Manitoba Pork Marketing. Being a member of Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-op Inc. provides producers with the following benefits: Eligible as a voting member of the Co-op. Manitoba Pork Marketing is a producer run organization governed by a Board of Directors and Delegate body. The Board of Directors and Delegate body is comprised of eligible members who have been nominated and elected to represent hog producer members in their district. By becoming a member, you are eligible to vote for a representative in your district or become further involved by allowing your name to stand in a delegate election. By being a member you are a welcomed voice in the operation of Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-op Inc. (Please note: Both Directors and Delegates must contract a minimum of 70% of their annual marketing hog production to Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-op Inc.) Eligible to Attend District Meetings: Producers of Manitoba Pork Marketing Co-op Inc. are geographically divided into 5 districts in the Province of Manitoba. There are also 2 Hutterite Brethren districts that are not geographically defined. Annually, Manitoba Pork Marketing conducts district meetings. These meetings are open to all members of the Co-op and producers are invited to attend. At these meetings producers are apprised of new marketing initiatives and current industry situations. The district meetings provide a forum for producers to voice their opinions and ask questions. It is important that the members of Manitoba Pork Marketing become involved in the governance of the Co-op. The input and guidance of producer members are integral components to the success of the organization. Manitoba Pork Marketing requires strong leadership from the grassroots in order to continue its success. Eligible for any Cash or Equity Disbursements: From time to time, cash or equity disbursements may become available to members in good standing with Manitoba Pork Marketing.
